Championship Rules
Rules for Men’s Club Championships
1.
The Royal & Ancient Rules of Golf will govern the Championships in conjunction with any Local Rules applicable.
2.
The Club Championships will be played in Three (3) Grades over 72 Holes, Stroke play. Play will be over 4 Rounds of 18 Holes played on consecutive weekend days, from the Blue tee markers. The applicable grades will be those in play at the start of the event.
3.
An additional grade has been added to accommodate Maximum participation of all members - the “Seniors Championship”.
3.1.
It will be known as the “Seniors Championship” and is open to players over 65.
3.2.
It will be played off the WHITE tee markers
3.3.
It will be played as a Nett STABLEFORD Event
3.4.
It will be played over 2 Rounds on the 2 x Sundays of the Full Championships.
3.5.
There will be a daily prize and an overall Winner for the 2 day event.
N.B. This competition is directed at those players that are unable to play from the Back Blue tee markers and would choose not to participate in any golf during the regular championship event.
3.6.
Players who commence in the Full championships can NOT switch to the Seniors Championships
3.7.
Players involved in the Seniors Championship ARE eligible to compete in the Monthly Medals stroke event on the second Saturday during the Championships.
4.
There will be trophies for A, B & C grade Scratch (Championship) winners and Runners-up in the 72 Hole event in each grade and a Scratch Winner & Handicap Winner in the Junior Championship.
5.
There will be Handicap Trophies for 1st and 2nd in A, B & C grades in the 72-hole event.
6.
In the event of a tie in the a, B or C grade Championship (Scratch) after 72 holes there will be a Sudden death scratch playoff. The playoff will commence on the 10th hole, followed by the 17th hole then the 18th hole on the same day as the last 18 holes are played. These holes will be repeated until we have a result.
7.
In the event of a tie in the Handicap event, results will be decided by conventional countback.
8.
In the event of a tie in the 18 Hole events played, winners will be decided by countback. There will be a trophy for the best net score only in each grade.
9.
In the event of any day being declared unplayable due to weather conditions the event will be reduced to not less than 54 holes and the match committee will authorise the appropriate days of play.
10.
Only financial club members may compete.
11.
A protest relating to any incident in the event must be made in writing to the match committee no later than 15 minutes after the player has completed his round.
12.
The match committee is the controlling body and their decision is final.
13.
A seeded draw will govern the starting procedure in the last two 18 Hole Rounds. The draw will be determined by the scratch score after the first 36 Holes. The draw will be 1st/2nd/3rd/4th & 5th/6th/7th/8th. Players hit off the first tee in Tee sheet order.
14.
The leading 8 players in each grade must play in the seeded draw unless a player makes a special request to the match committee. Any decision of the match committee is final. Failure to play in the seeded draw will result in disqualification from the Scratch Event.
15.
Players must not practice on the course before play on any day or after play between rounds where play is on consecutive days (Sat/Sun). Playing on Sunday morning in a Social Club event is regarded as practice and is not allowable.
16.
Players are allowed to ride in golf carts or on motor bikes.
17.
Major Trophies will be disbursed as follows; 72 Hole Scratch Winner, 72 Hole Scratch Runner-Up , 72 Hole Handicap Winner, , 72 Hole Handicap Runner-Up. Players are only eligible to win one major trophy - except for Juniors (Under 18 years at commencement of the Championship) who may also be eligible for the Junior Championship.
18.
The applicable event entry fee will be the same per round as per normal. However, at the discretion of the board from year to year, if a player pays for 4 rounds prior to the start of the event they may receive a discount, as set each year by the board.
19.
Tee off in the seeded draw will be from the 1st Tee with C Grade leading.
20.
The 1st group for each grade will be players seeded 5th/6th/7th/8th followed by 1st/2nd/3rd/4th.
N.B. For the Third Round only on Saturday, 2 additional tee times after the seeded draw, will be allowed for players who work on a Saturday morning and are unable to make a tee time before the seeded groups.
21.
Starting on each day will be controlled by the Golf Professional. Stop and Start of play due to weather conditions will be in the complete control of the Golf Professional with the full support of the Match Committee.
22.
Players will play in the appropriate grade as determined by their handicap at the start of the event. They will play in 18 Hole events in grade determined by handicap as adjusted after each 18 Holes.
23.
Players who are late for their tee time will be penalised in accordance with the Rules of Golf (Rule 6-3, 33-1 and 33-7). 2 shot penalty - up to 5 minutes. More than 5 minutes will result in disqualification.
Business Houses Comp Rules
- 6 holes scored as a stroke.
- Play any day on weekdays i.e. Monday to Friday.
- Teams with maximum of 8 players, minimum of 3. (3 best scores count each week).
- Teams can have substitute players but only to maximum of 5 players per team each week.
- Players need to play and represent their team on a minimum of 4 occassions through each competition period to quailfy for end of season prizes.
- Individuals can play more than once in any week.
- All players must have at least one other player with them for their scores to count.
- Points are awarded each week from the team that comes first all the way down to the team that runs last each week.
- Total cost per team per competition is $250 for the whole team. After registration is paid, no further costs are incurred weekly for playing in the Business Houses Competition.
- Comp runs Feb. to Mar. 2024.
- Handicaps provided by the Pro Shop.
